Some companies draw organisational lines around products and services; others structure the company geographically. For eBay’s Asia Pacific leadership team, whose region includes Australia, India, China and Korea, this geographical structure means encouraging employees from diverse cultures to learn from each other. It also means finding ways to share stories that help build an organisational culture that can be “lived” every day – whatever the location. Working with eBay’s Australian communications team, the solution – and first step in a broader strategy – was to write and design an enewsletter that explains and celebrates the practices and people in this exciting and rapidly growing business.
