As we move into what KPMG’s Rob Hogarth calls stage three in the maturing of sustainability reporting, driven largely by pending legislation and investor demands for more meaningful information, CFOs are finally taking notice. Now that the monetisation of the carbon economy and the requirement to report emissions publicly have got their attention (and caught many on the back foot) the question to ask is: why has it taken so long?
